Alzheimer’s is one of the most alarming and saddening diseases we’re faced with. Watching a loved one succumb to Alzheimer’s is heartbreaking, but so far, no true cure has been found for the disease. However, some studies have shown that eating a diet rich in antioxidants can help slow the disease. The antioxidants that come from Vitamins C and E can actually help prevent the disease. Two different studies have been done on antioxidants and Alzheimer’s, and while all the researchers involved realize that more studies are necessary, the findings are promising.
Studies have long shown that Alzheimers’ patients have a build-up of specific proteins in their brains, and these proteins cause nerve damage. What is not known, however, is what causes these proteins to form. One possibility is free radicals. Free radicals are molecules that naturally occur in our bodies and cause damage to cells. What stops these free radicals? Antioxidants. This is the reason many nutritionists recommend we intake a number of antioxidants, such as those found in dark chocolate, green tea, and red wine, every day.
The first study was done at the Erasmus Medical Center in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. Over 5,000 subjects over the age of 55 were studied, and out of them, 197 developed Alzheimer’s. The team tracked the subject’s diets and habits, including noting those who smoke. Smoking may cause more free radicals to form in the body, which could cause Alzheimer’s to develop faster. However, smokers who ate a diet high in Vitamins C and E were actually less likely to develop Alzheimer’s.
The second study was conducted at Rush-Presbyterian St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, U.S.A. Here, 815 subjects over 65 were studied. The results showed that those who had a large amount of Vitamin E in their diets were less likely of developing Alzheimer’s but only if the patients were lacking a specific gene variant.
Both studies, obviously, are inconclusive. However, the fact that antioxidants may help combat Alzheimer’s is promising, and those who suffer from the disease may want to take Vitamin C or E supplements. One antioxidant that might also be important is L-Glutathione. It’s referred to as the Master Antioxidant because it’s present in every cell of our body. Glutathione is manufactured by the human body.

I wasn’t sure what to expect from taking MAXGXL. All I knew was that I was constantly feeling fatigued and low on energy, and I was ready to try just about anything to start feeling better. One of my friends told me about MAXGXL, and I decided to give it a try. About a week after I started taking MAXGXL, I began to feel much more energy. In fact, not only did I get my old energy back but I felt an increase in my overall energy and alertness. Even after exercising for several hours I didn’t feel completely exhausted.
As a professional athlete, I was used to needing to use ice packs on a daily basis to bring down the almost constant inflammation in my joints. However, because Glutathione - which is one of the body’s master anti-oxidants is also an anti-inflammatory, taking MAX GXL also seems to have a positive impact on that problem as well. And I can buy it at wholesale prices without joining any autoship program which really works for me. I’ve now made the product a part of my daily routine, and I don’t plan to stop using MAXGXL any time soon. It has given me back the energy and power that I haven’t felt in several years, and it’s made me feel great.

Flameless Votive Candles
Many people love to light candles when dining outdoors (or indoors, for that matter). Making your outdoor picnic table look great can sometimes be difficult, though, especially if you have young children. They’re often attracted to flames, and as ever parent knows, having a kid can mean putting away the candles. However, there is another option: add these outdoor rechargeable votive candle lights to your table in place of real candles. The lights flicker and move just like actual flames do, but there’s nothing hot to the touch. Each light runs off a battery, and when it runs down (after ten to twelve hours), simply plug it in to the recharging base and have it ready for the next dinner. If you’re looking for some great garden lighting that isn’t going to be a fire hazard, these lights are absolutely perfect for you. You can also use them indoors or in places where real candles aren’t allowed, like college dorm rooms.

One of the most unique bonsai trees out there is the azalea bonsai. This cute little bonsai actually looks very different from the traditional bonsai tree. For one thing, it actually flowers, something most bonsai do not. During the spring, the azalea bonsai, also called the rhododendron mucronatum, blooms with bright red petals. This adds a huge splash of color to any location, whether you put it on your kitchen table, the back porch, or your desk at work. The azalea can actually be put outside during the warmer months, although it will need to be taken inside during the cold. Once the azalea blooms and the petals fall off, it looks like a more traditional bonsai for the rest of the year. This makes the azalea bonsai a great gift to give to anyone, especially those looking for a unique type of bonsai or for a flowering plant that offers something a bit more.

Many people enjoy relaxing outdoors while watching birds fly around and eat from their birdfeeders. While birds enjoy eating out of normal bird feeders and making nests in standard birdhouses, they’re sure to really love the Home Sweet Home Bird Feeder and House. What makes this perfect little cottage birdhouse so unique and different from other birdhouses? Simple: the entire thing, from the chimney to the roof to the walls, is made out of bird seed! The birds can actually eat the entire birdhouse—let’s just hope they do so after their babies have learned to fly! The feeder is made out of a variety of different materials, including canola seeds, spray millet, dried apple slices, rye, corn, and sunflower seeds. The artists who create these houses do an amazing job, and the birdhouse really looks like a cottage you’d find out in the country surrounded by rolling hills and orchards. If you love birds, you’ll love giving them their home sweet home with this feeder/house.

If you enjoy plants or love seeing something a little different, you may enjoy the Baby Jade Bonsai Tree collection. These five bonsai trees actually look like a tiny, miniature forest in your home, and they’re different enough from standard bonsai to look very unique. Part of this is because, unlike the usual bonsai, the Baby Jade Bonsai comes from South Africa and not Japan. There are a couple of differences: the Baby Jade has smaller, almost round leaves that are quite distinctive, and they’re actually very similar to, although smaller than, the leaves of a Jade plant. Like most bonsai, Baby Jade trees collect and store water in their trunks and branches, meaning you don’t need to water them as often as other plants. These five little trees are already mature when you order them, so you will most likely not need to repot them. For those who like unique plants or are looking for another type of bonsai to add to their collection, the Baby Jade makes a nice addition.

Today, the subject of antioxidants is a popular topic among health professionals and consumers, alike. The increasing awareness of how antioxidants retard the degeneration of cells and “slow the aging process” has popular support in the ever-increasing journey to find the fountain of youth. The most powerful antioxidant that the human body uses is not the one that you ingest, however. The most powerful antioxidant is referred to as the “master antioxidant” and it’s one that your body actually makes ! That’s correct. It’s a little like finding the truth hidden in plain site. Glutathione is a protein based antioxidant that is made in every cell of your body. All ingested (exogenous) antioxidants pale in comparson to the power of endogenous antioxidants that we all produce.
Over 60,000 health papers have been written and published on the subject of Glutathione. It’s nothing new. What recent science has been able to bring to your health, however, is a natural supplement that supports your own natural production of Glutathione. It’s simply a herbal based Glutathione precursor. Why might this be important if we each produce our own Glutathione ? The bad news is that your Glutathione producing capabilities fall off dramatically after the age of 20. You lose about 8-12% GSH production capacity each decade after the age of 20 years. The great news is that MAXGXL can kick start your Glutathione producing capability 200-300% in a matter of a few months.

Welcome to the Body Care Retreat where we’ll focus on many issues for your health and wellness. Today I added our first article that talks a little about the beneficial effects of vitamin B12 and its possible role in the treatment and/or prevention of Alzheimer’s disease.
Whether or not you are a believer in the power of natural remedies and products and the ability of our bodies to ward off ill health through good nutrition and care, you have to admit that if something as easy and cheap and safe as vitamin B12 can do anything at all to reduce the risk of alzheimer’s disease - it’s worth a try.
Another huge area of focus will be on the simple pleasures that make life a pleasure and because I happen to be a 50+ female - I’ll be writing for everyone like me who loves, birds, bonsais and backyards.
